'The Originals' star Claire Holt will be trading her fangs for police uniform as she joins the latest NBC series, 'Aquarius.' The 26-year-old actress will be starring in the new drama show together with David Duchovny.

Holt, who's known for her role as Rebekah in 'The Originals' will be playing the role of a police officer named Chairmain Tully. Since the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has been dominated by men since the 1960s, Tully had to prove that she could similarly do a good job in enforcing the law.

Duchovny, on the other hand, will be an undercover LAPD cop who lives a complicated life. NBC's 'Aquarius' is scheduled for 13 episodes. Apart from 'The Originals' star Claire Holt, other celebrities who will join the series include Gethin Anthony, Grey Damon, Gaius Charles, Ambyr Childers, Beau Mirchoff, and Emma Dumont.

Now that Holt will become a regular in the series, fans are wondering about her character in the CW spinoff series. Many were stunned when the Australian actress exited the 'Vampire Diaries' spinoff series during its pilot season.

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Holt denied the rumors that writers couldn't come up anymore with fresh stories for her character: "I want to be very clear that they didn't run out of material, I wasn't pushed out, I wasn't fed up with Rebekah, I didn't quit mid-season, there was no drama, there was no rift between cast members; it really came down to the fact that I completed my initial commitment and made a life choice, not a career choice."

Holt took a leave for she wanted to go home to Australia and spend time with her family. Despite her departure, the blonde beauty says that 'The Originals' will always have a special place in her heart.

Fans have no reason to worry because at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con panel, executive producer Julie Plec says that Rebekah will appear at least once in the 'Originals' season 2 episodes which will premiere on October 6 on the CW network.
