A new trailer has just been released for "Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance", the film set to headline the Venice Film Festival 2014 lineup!

Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, "Birdman" focuses on ex-Batman Michael Keaton. Michael's character is a washed-up actor who once played the iconic superhero "Birdman", and he tries to write, star in, and direct a Broadway play in an attempt to return to fame.

The movie also features the likes of Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis and Naomi Watts.

The release of a new "Birdman" trailer featuring Michael Keaton and Emma Stone is sure to create even more buzz for the upcoming Venice Film Festival 2014 lineup.

Festival Director Alberto Barbera recently said that he was aiming to snag the much-hyped films from David Fincher and Paul Thomas Anderson - “Gone Girl” and “Inherent Vice”, respectively - but from the looks of reactions to the new “Birdman” trailer, it looks like the festival’s opening film isn’t missing out on any attention!

Fans are taking to Twitter to share their excitement over the upcoming flick, and various news outlets are praising the odd trailer.

"New Birdman trailer is even more incredible than the first one," Radio Times wrote.

"When a movie trailer opens with a tighty whities-clad Michael Keaton meditating mid-air in his apartment, you know you're in for an absurd three minutes," noted Rolling Stone.

Vulture mentioned June's previous, shorter trailer for "Birdman" - "it looked completely awesome. Now an extra-long international trailer has dropped and our initial assessment still seems accurate."

The movie is set for general release on October 17.

Extra-keen fans who just happen to be in Italy can catch an early glimpse of Michael Keaton and Emma Stone in "Birdman" at the Venice Film Festival 2014 premiere of the film - the festival runs from August 27 to September 6.
