San Antonio Spurs News: Parker Signs $45M 3-Year Extension, Kawhi Leonard Expected To Get Extension As Well?

In the latest San Antonio Spurs news, long-time floor general Tony Parker has reportedly signed an extension deal with his team.

While Parker still has one year to go before becoming a free agent next summer, the 32-year-old playmaker has accepted his team's extension contract worth $45 million for the next three years.

In the report by Bleacher Report, the Spurs were as quiet as they can get with the Parker signing, but it is success nonetheless for the 2014 NBA Champions, which have already signed Parker's partner since 2001, Tim Duncan.

This leaves San Antonio to just Manu Ginobili for their 'Big Three', though some experts are pretty sure the Argentinian will remain with the only team he has known throughout his NBA career.

As for Parker, the Frenchman has not been the same as of late for the Spurs, and has logged in less minutes in total during the previous season, particularly due to San Antonio's deep bench. As a result, Parker only averaged 16.7 points ad 5.7 assists per game during the regular season, though those numbers are still impressive considering he has been playing limited minutes to give way to coach Gregg Popovich's other point guards.

Since their fifth championship in franchise history, the Spurs have been overall quiet throughout the off-season. The team re-signed their veteran Tim Duncan, as well as role players Boris Diaw and Patty Mills, before getting the nod of coach Popovich for several more years of excellent basketball.

Now that Parker has signed an extension, the only thing left for San Antonio to secure their team's successful roster in the long run is to give Kawhi Leonard an extension as well, which is of uttermost importance since the 2014 Finals MVP is only 23 years old, and is already budding as a great piece to work with once the Duncan era is done.
