Upcoming Windows Phones 2014: Here's What The HTC One M8 Looks Like Running WP 8.1, Expected To Hit Verizon In August

There are a number of upcoming Windows Phones for 2014, but most of them have either unimpressive or outdated specs. Don't you just wish some Android flagships run on WP OS?

Well, you can try using one soon.

According to a report by GSM Arena and BGR, Taiwanese manufacturer HTC is going to get into the WP 8.1 bandwagon. However, it looks like the phone maker is too lazy to develop a new design for the Windows Phone-powered handset.

And so they'll just use the HTC One M8 as the body for the new operating system.

Thankfully, all of the juicy specs are still there, including the 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2GB of RAM, 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, Snapdragon 801 and 16GB of internal memory.

The 4MP UltraPixel camera at the back paired with a depth sensor is also expected to make the shift to Windows Phone, including the 5MP front camera.

In the report, an alleged official image of the HTC One M8 running on Windows Phone 8.1 has been leaked to PCMag, and from the looks of it, it looks like Microsoft's mobile platform fits HTC's flagship perfectly.

The device is said to be launched on August 19 in an HTC press event in New York. However, as early as now, local US carrier Verizon has already announced that it will offer the Windows Phone-powered HTC handset starting on August 21.

While the HTC handset's hardware and specs are hardly an issue, the main point here is whether Windows Phone 8.1 would function seamlessly in the One M8's hardware. In a recent report, a GDR1 update for the platform is already in the works, and would support interactive cases, such as HTC's Dot Case View feature.

So do you think you would want to get the One M8 running on Windows Phone 8.1?
