"Gotham" TV series cast Jada Pinkett Smith claimed that her marriage to Will Smith is going strong as she lashed out at critics over daughter Willow's Instagram photo being in the same bed with a much older friend.

In an interview with The Edit magazine, "Gotham" TV series cast Jada Pinkett Smith said that her husband "encompasses everything.

"It's almost as if calling him 'my husband' is too small of a word for what he means in my life - and especially how I feel we, as women, identify the idea of a husband," she said. "I really had to mature and expand that. I think I had a very stuck idea of what a husband looks like, what a wife should be. "

She said that once she broke of her preconceived notions about what a wife and husband should act, "a whole new world opened for me," adding that she really understood Will Smith and what their marriage has evolved into.

Keeping a marriage being a high-profile couple is difficult, she said, because they are always going to be subjected to rumors but the coping mechanism for them is always the truth.

"When you know that what's going on in your house is so the opposite [of what's being said], and you also know that when there's mystery, people fill in the gaps, that's OK," she said. "Just don't pollute something that's not dirty. It's really tough. I feel like the connection to the value of women on a bigger scale has decreased tremendously," she said.
