Ant-Man Movie Plot Spoilers: Scott Lang Is Still A 'Good' Thief With A Daughter! Heist Movie Still Follows The Comics But Is No Longer Edgar Wright’s Film!

"Ant-Man" has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The controversy of Edgar Wright's sudden pullout from the project hints of a deeper issue between Marvel and its directors. Errors in press releases that lead to confusion also hint that they haven't quite figured everything out yet.

Still, the essence of the movie, specifically the main character, Scott Lang, remains true to the essence of the film.

Director Peyton Reed talked to Screenrant on the movie's theme: "Thematic arc really is a sort of passing-of-the-torch movie... Rudd's character [Scott Lang] is an ex-con, a thief. It's also got the structure of a heist movie. And there's also a real personal dynamic to the movie, too. In the comics, Scott Lang has a daughter, and that's part of the movie, too."

Scott Lang is a thief, hence the heist aspect of the movie. But it's not as cut and dried as it seems. He  goes to jail for a few years and then turns a new leaf. However, Lang steals Pym's Ant-Man suit in order to commit crimes because he needed to pay for the health care his daughter Cassie Lang needs when she became very sick. Hank Pym was able to see the motivation beyond his acts.

The story of the movie depicts the "passing-of-the-torch" with Michael Douglas' Hank Pym handing over the mantle of Ant-Man to Lang. The details are still under wraps. Will Lang steal the Ant-Man suit from Pym as he does in the comics? We'll just have to wait and see.

Variety does confirm:

"Preliminary footage has already been shot - a harrowing action sequence for the film, which co-stars Corey Stoll and Evangeline Lilly (as the Wasp, another key Avenger), was shown at Comic-Con with Lang escaping on the back of a flying ant."

Some more revelations:

"Marvel is sticking with its July 17, 2015 release date under Reed's helm. Feige has amped up Reed's nerd credentials, disclosing that he nearly directed "Guardians of the Galaxy," had been attached to helm Fox's "Fantastic Four" a decade ago, and "is someone that I've been a fan of for a long time." He also attended his 20th Comic-Con this year in San Diego.

Reed has said he doesn't just want to step into Wright's 'Ant-Man,' and intends to put his own touch on the project that revolves around a heist."
