"True Detective" Season 2 release date, cast, plot, and shooting rumors. "True Detective" has been quite the hot topic this past week with vague accusations of plagarism and rumors that Elizabeth Moss will be joining the cast for season 2.

Elizabeth Moss, the 'Mad Men' star has addressed the rumors that are linking her to the 'True Detective', a popular HBO series, in an interview she was engaged in.

In the interview, she said, "I can't even...it's....you know...not in the way everyone is talking about, honestly. I had to ask my own people, Have you not told me something?" to US today when she was asked about the rumors that were going round.

Apart from Moss, other famous actors have been rumored to have roles in "True Detective" Season 2 are Gerard Butler, Brad Pitt, Collins Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Christian Bale. Though Christian Bale's involvement in the project has is also rumored to have fallen through.

Showrunner Nic Pizzolatto has recently said that his about half way through the script for season 2, and that it would have four main characters and be set in California.

According to The Wrap, first story details have been discovered and they reveal a plot that is both confusing yet intriguing.

"True Detective" will follow the death of Ben Caspar, the corrupt city manager of a fictional California city who's found brutally murdered amid a potentially groundbreaking transportation deal that would forever change freeway gridlock in the state. Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out who did it. They soon discover their investigation has much broader and darker implications than they initially thought.

Pizzolatto is still working on scripts, but the completed ones are great, HBO head of programming Michael Lombardo said at TCA last month. "The two scripts we have are, I hate to jinx it, but are more exciting than the first season," he said. "Nic has blown us away with the first two episodes."

HBO has not announced any official release date yet, but insiders speculate that January 2015 is a resonable assumption for the next season of the show to come out.
