‘Dolphin Tale 2’ Plot Based On Real-Life Event And Is More Dramatic; Cast Members Beg Not To Be Compared With SeaWorld

Fans will be delighted that a brand-new baby dolphin is featured in the "Dolphin Tale 2" plot. Cast members Nathan Gamble, Cozi Zuelsdorff, and Austin Highsmith will be making a comeback and viewers will be able to see their transition from quirky 12-year-olds to 16-year-olds.

Apart from the trio, Morgan Freeman, Kris Kristofferson, Ashley Judd, and Harry Connick Jr. will similarly reprise their roles.

"Everyone is back - the film is a little more dramatic than the first one, which is exciting. We've grown up with the audience. There's a new little dolphin named Hope- she's super-cute and everything's true. This is the first real-life sequel that's ever been done," said Highsmith pertaining to the real-life accounts where the film was based.

As per Zuelhsdorff, the baby dolphin has been rescued on the same night the first "Dolphin Tale's" wrap party was held.

Apart from baby dolphin Hope, surfer and shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton will be joining the cast. "She makes an amazing cameo. She and Winter hit it off instantly," said Gamble.

Some cannot help but wonder about the making of "Dolphin Tale 2" especially with all the controversies SeaWorld is facing with regards to its treatment of killer whales. Since the film is using real-life facility Clearwater Marine Aquarium, the cast members were quick to emphasize that the aquarium takes good care of the creatures it's housing.

"CMA, the aquarium that's in the movie, is a rescue/rehab facility. If there's any way for them to release an animal, they will. The only ones that stay there permanently are the ones that would die in a matter of days after being released," explained Zuehlsdorff.

Gamble said that the "Dolphin Tale 2" plot would revolve around teenagers needing to let go of a dolphin regardless of their attachment to it and not the other way around.

"We can't even be compared to SeaWorld because we're nothing like it. It's like apples and oranges. A lot of people think that SeaWorld produced our movie and that couldn't be farther from the truth. Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. did our film. We have the utmost respect for the care they give at SeaWorld, we're not saying anything bad about them, but we are in no way affiliated at all with them," added Zuehlsdorff.

"Dolphin Tale 2" is slated for release on October 12.
