Bill Cosby Biography Book Released With THR Exerpt; Legendary Comedian Bill Cosby To Do Standup Exclusively for Netflix

Bill Cosby is a comic legend. He starred on several shows named after himself and put all the voices into Fat Albert. Cosby sold us pudding and told us how raise our kids. Jerry Seinfeld said, in last season's Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, that if there were a Mount Rushmore of Comedy, it would feature the granite faces of Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Don Rickles and Bill Cosby.

The Hollywood Reporter magazine published an exclusive excerpt from a new biography from the legendary comedian in "Bill Cosby's Untold Story."

"Cosby: His Life and Times" is a new biography of the comedy icon by former Newsweek editor Mark Whitaker. The book comes out Sept. 16 from Simon & Schuster. It was written with the help of Cosby and his inner circle.

"Cosby: His Life and Times" traces Cosby's his rise from the standup comedy clubs through gold records, to groundbreaking television roles which began in 1965 when he his role on "I Spy" earned him the first African-American actor to win an Emmy. The book also details the murder of Cosby's son Ennis in 1997.

Bill Cosby is keeping busy. He was just on Fallon last night and will do a show just for Netflix. Cosby has an upcoming NBC pilot that recently started moving forward.

Bill Cosby will do an hour of stand-up for Netflix this fall. Cosby's show will join performances by comics Jim Jefferies, Bill Burr, Chelsea Peretti and Chelsea Handler. Cosby's special was directed by Robert Townsend. Cosby loves that there will be no commercial breaks.

Netflix announced four exclusive stand-up comedy specials from Bill Cosby, Jim Jefferies, Bill Burr, Chelsea Peretti and the Chelsea Handler special Uganda Be Kidding Me Live. Last year Cosby taped his first standup show in 30 years, "Bill Cosby: Far From Finished."

"Bill Cosby 77" will premiere on Nov. 28. The live Bill Cosby show was taped the legendary comedian's 77th birthday, on July 12, ) at the San Francisco Jazz Center. In the hour-plus Cosby show, he talks about relationships, marriage and kids.

The lineup, announced by Netflix, is:

"Jim Jefferies: BARE," premiering Aug. 29. Taped at Boston's Wilbur Theatre, it finds Jefferies weighing in on diverse topics such as politics, new fatherhood, orgies and Neil Diamond. (It will join the first season of Jefferies' FX comedy series "Legit," now streaming on Netflix.)

Chelsea Handler in her previously announced "Uganda Be Kidding Me Live" appearance, premiering Oct. 10. It's the culmination of an international stand-up tour by Handler (who exits her E! talk show later this month, headed for a new series on Netflix in 2016) as she recounts tales of her global travels and the ridiculous characters in her life.

"Chelsea Peretti: One of the Greats" premieres Nov. 14. Originating from San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts, it's a dark but silly exploration by the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star showcasing her talents as an actress, stand-up comic, writer and motorcycle enthusiast.

"Bill Cosby 77," premiering Nov. 28. Taped July 12 (Cosby's 77th birthday) at the San Francisco Jazz Center, it's an hour-plus of comedy from Cos dealing with such topics as relationships, marriage and, of course, kids.

"Bill Burr: I'm Sorry You Feel That Way," premiering Dec. 5. Burr is onstage at Atlanta's Tabernacle exploring subjects such as how nothing ruins great sex like a rom-com and how too many childhood hugs could be the downfall of man.
