Elizabeth Vargas and Marc Cohn have split up following the singer's return to rehab, according to reports.

It seems that the 20/20 anchor couldn't catch a break as Elizabeth Vargas and Marc Cohn split up just days following her statement that she is returning to a rehabilitation facility to treat her alcohol abuse.

News spread around about the couple's divorce but Us Weekly reported a statement from a source claiming that "the two are indeed in proceedings, but the divorce is not yet final."

Meanwhile, in a report by People magazine, a source who is allegedly privy to the matter confirmed that divorce papers have been filed and that the couple's kids are staying with Marc Cohn in New York while Elizabeth Vargas is at rehab.

Elizabeth Vargas, who is in rehab for the second time, had tried to get her alcohol addiction treated for the first time last November, as per her husband's prodding.

"You have a problem. You're an alcoholic," Marc Cohn told Elizabeth Vargas in an interview in "Good Morning America" in January. "It made me really angry, really angry. But he was right."

Just this weekend, Vargas made a statement about her second time at rehab.

"As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process," said Vargas in a statement on Page Six.

"I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down and for that I am ashamed and sorry. I am committed to battling and addressing this debilitating disease and want to thank everyone who has offered their unwavering support during this trying time," she explained.

While Elizabeth Vargas and Marc Cohn split, the latter remains supportive of the anchor's journey to sobriety. "On behalf of Elizabeth's family, we are in total support of her recovery and want her to be well," said Cohn in a statement.

The couple married in 2002 and they have two children together.
