‘If I Stay’ Movie To Pave Way For Third Book If Film Becomes Successful? Chloe Grace Moretz Shows Dedication To Role By Learning To Play Cello In Just 7 Months

As the "If I Stay" movie premieres tomorrow, fans of Chloe Grace Moretz are wondering if she did give justice to her character, Mia Hall. In the film, Mia is a young cellist whose life changes when she had a car accident with her family. The tragedy left her in a comatose state.

To make her portrayal as realistic as possible, the "Carrie" actress dedicated 7 months to learn how to play the cello. She admitted, however, that intense musical scenes in the film required a cellist body double.

"I tried to learn the cello for seven months but then I realized it's much harder than any other instrument, so I couldn't really learn it. So then they just kind of cut my head off and put it onto another girl's body. So I'd be doing scenes and my hands are by my sides and I'm [trying to] act like I'm playing the cello with my head. And they're like, 'Don't move your body!'" she said in an appearance on Chelsea Lately.

"If I Stay" movie is one of the many films based on bestselling young adult novels. While there are critics saying that only young people can relate to such film adaptations, author Gayle Forman believes otherwise.

"Anybody who's ever been in love, anybody who's been a parent, anybody who's gone through a loss or a transformation can connect to these stories no matter what age," she told Toronto Sun.

Despite hopes of some fans that the "If I Stay" movie will lead to a third book, Forman, who's also the film's executive producer thinks that two books are enough: "Mia and Adam, the Target years? We're not doing that," she told the publication. "I'd have to do something really horrible to them, and I don't want to do anything. They've been through enough, and I think they're where they need to be."
