Zelda Wii U Release Date [NEWS]: Trailer & Bundle Includes Robin Williams? Nintendo Responds To Gameplay Petition

Last week, a petition to get Robin Williams into the upcoming Zelda Wii U game was made and signed by over 50,000 people.

"Please consider naming an NPC in the new Legend of Zelda game after Robin Williams. It was a series he loved, and it's a small tribute to a great man," the petition's description reads.

Now, Nintendo has responded to the request, sparking rumors of a possible gameplay trailer and bundle that includes the famous actor.

"Robin Williams was loved at Nintendo," Nintendo told Polygon in a statement.

"Our hearts go out to his entire family, and especially to Zelda Williams who we've worked with multiple times. We appreciate the outpouring of support from the gaming community, and hear the request of fans to honor him in a future game. We will not be discussing what might be possible for future games during this difficult time, but we will hold our memories of Robin close."

Several Legend of Zelda fans are claiming the Wii U game will include a day and night cycle.

One forum user even posted footage of a particular trailer gameplay clip that backs this rumors, Wii U Daily reports.

Retailer GameStop has announced that they will exclusively sell a Zelda-themed Monopoly game, which will feature trailer gameplay moves and characters beginning next month, Wii U Daily reports.

Zelda Wii U producer Eiji Aonuma said that the character who appeared in the game's release date gameplay trailer shown at the E3 2014 conference may not necessarily be Link, the International Digital Times reports.

The development accompanies rumors claiming Link's character is a girl, which have been denied by the developer.

There are also rumors circulating in gaming forums that the game's release date is set for early 2015 and that it will be playable at next year's E3 2015 conference.

These claims, however, have not been substantiated.

Zelda Wii U has also been rumored to have a new arch-nemesis in the game.

"This software is a Wii U Edition new legend of Zelda series. Faced with mysteries in the world of Zelda spread indefinitely without boundaries, a new link, a new nemesis.," Nintendo Japan's official website wrote, according to Zelda Dungeon.
