Is "Grey's Anatomy" star Ellen Pompeo ready to quit acting? The actress recently revealed that she doesn't see herself continuing onscreen after wraps up her role as Meredith Grey on the ABC medical series.

In fact, Pompeo's interests may lie in producing.

"I definitely don't have a strong desire to act after 'Grey's [Anatomy.],'" Pompeo revealed at BuzzFeed Brews with Facebook Live.

The actress, who appeared for the panel discussion with "Scandal" star Kerry Washington and "How to Get Away With Murder" star Viola Davis, confessed that she isn't sure she wants to pursue acting roles after her long-running ABC series comes to an end.  

"I definitely feel myself transitioning. I don't find acting terribly empowering. For the place I am in my life, I think my age, once I hit 40, I feel differently. I don't necessarily want to work for other people," said Pompeo.

The "Grey's" star has been working on the medical drama for its entire ten-year tenure, and recently signed a two-year contract to continue with the Shonda Rhimes show. The series is currently gearing up for its season 11 premiere.   

"I feel like the acting has been a wonderful opportunity and I've done so much of it over the last 11 years. Maybe part of my personality is that I feel like I have something to prove sometimes and with acting I don't feel like I have anything to prove anymore. Even though I don't have no awards or Emmys or anything like that," explained Pompeo.

The television star recently ranked number four on Forbes annual list of highest earning actresses on TV. She reportedly made $10 million dollars over the past year.

However, it appears that Pompeo may have a desire to further develop her producing career.

"Producing is very challenging, but it's very interesting to me and fun to try and find projects. That's where I really have fun now," said Pompeo, who formed the production company Calamity Jane in 2011. "That's fun for me, to find a book or an article or an idea and turn it into something," she adds.

But don't start mourning the loss of Pompeo's face on your flat screen just yet. The actress admitted that she would never rule out another acting project.  

"I mean, never say never, I'm not going to come out and make one of those statements like, 'I'm retiring after' and then in February come back," she said. "I try to keep an open heart, an open mind, an open soul and spirit to whatever comes my way, and whatever is meant to be for me will be."
