"NCIS" season 12 spoilers show DiNozzo taking over the team for the meantime while the boss is away on the premiere episode. On second episode, however, NFL star Tony Gonzalez will make an appearance as a guest star.

The premiere episode is titled "Twenty Klicks," said Buddy TV in its "NCIS" season 12 spoilers, and it shows Gibbs and McGee is going to Russia "to safely escort home an NCIS computer engineer connected to classified intel."

But it's not going to be that easy as a mercenary group that knows their mission will do everything to kill Gibbs and McGee, who are forced to go off the grid.

DiNozzo and the rest of the NCIS team "frantically uses every asset and inter-agency contact they have in an attempt to locate their missing team members," the website said.

Meanwhile, Cartermatt revealed more "NCIS" season 12 spoilers when it reported that Tony Gonzalez will appear in the second episode. The website said that the reason for his guest appearance is two-fold: one is it allows the athlete to try acting following the successful transition of Terry Crews ("Expendables") from the gridiron to Hollywood.

And second, it allows CBS to promote its "Thursday Night Football" program.

"This episode airs on Tuesday, September 30, and the title for the hour is going to be 'Kill the Messenger.' We know that Gonzalez's character is entitled Tony Francis, but that is really about it for the time being," the site said.

CBS also offered "NCIS" season 12 spoilers through the following synopsis: "When a Navy Lieutenant is killed on his way to a private meeting with the President, the NCIS team must determine if the murder was part of a recent stream of MUGGINGS in the area or a targeted hit to keep intel secret."

"NCIS" season 12 will air on September 23 on CBS.
