OS X Yosemite Beta release date: The Apple desktop OS’s preview version is now available to developers and public beta participants. The latest preview update can now be dowloaded at the Mac App Store.

According to Apple Insider, there are still lingering issues in the updates and these include: Extensions, iCloud Drive, Aperture, iPhoto, Safari, Developer Tools, and localization.

The Apple-focus site also notes that Family Sharing on Pages for the Mac and the iOS App Store remain disabled, but the Cupertino tech giant continue to remind developer that they will need to re-sign applications with new Gatekeeper signatures. There are still issues with Handoff and TextEdit as well.

The OS X Yosemite Public Beta 3 is the third release for end users that are part of Apple’s AppleSeed customer software seeding program, 9to5 Mac reports. Sources note that the OS X Yosemite is expected to be available this October.

The OS X Yosemite was announced by Apple during its WWDC conference this year, the time of the year where the company is known to share announcements on its software products. The Yosemite’s predecessor, the OS X Mavericks, was announced on the same venue.

OS X Yosemite is also OS X 10.10 and comes with a refreshed design. And like the OS X Mavericks, it will be offered for free.

“OS X 10.10 Yosemite follows in the footsteps of last year's OS X 10.9 Mavericks with an even cleaner design and more features inspired by iOS,” writes The Verge.

The new OS has flat design, transluscent panels, and lack of gradients and textures of iOS 7 can be found throughout the Yosemite. The Verge notes that the new interface update lends a much more modern look to the desktop operating system. The OS X 10.10 is also designed to work with iOS-powered devices better.
