Apple iOS 8 Released; Much Awaited Update Delivered, Guide To Switching From Android Given

The much awaited Apple iOS 8 had been released and it reportedly did not fail to impress fans.

Along with the updates that came with the release of the Apple iOS 8, the tech company also reportedly released a guide on how to drop Android and make a switch to their offering.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the update was reportedly aimed at "making Apple's core apps better and getting them to play well with others."

Many updates were impressive, Engadget suggested but there were also cons to the upgrade.

Some of the updates included a support for third-party keyboards like the popular Swift. The Messages app also reportedly got an upgrade, enabling users to enjoy multimedia-laden conversations through audio, video and images.

The new Messages app will also reportedly enable a person to mute and leave group conversations.

The Photos app also got an overhaul in terms of searching for an image or video. Users will reportedly be able to locate a photo by searching through categories like location, album name, time or date.

The Health app, which had been a considered a highlight of the update, will reportedly enable users to log fitness and health data and track them easily.

The iOS 8 also highlighted the use of voice dictation.

While the updates proved to be impressive and enticing, Zdnet suggested to wait it out before hopping on the iOS 8 bandwagon, citing the possibility of experiencing "bugs, quirks, and hiccups." Another reason given by the tech website is that most apps will not be updated for the new operating system yet.

As mentioned, along with the release of the Apple iOS 8 is a guide given by the company on how to move content from Android to iPhone. While transferring some content from Android to iPhone appeared to be swift, as presented in the guide, moving apps is impossible.

While the new operating system appeared to impress, many suggested that it still has a room to grow and is still quite behind Android and Windows Phone.
