The episode synopsis for episode 13, "Ascension," reads: "Season 1 ends with Molly returning to space to redirect the Seraphim away from Earth and protect the world from the deadly spores. Meanwhile, John discovers that Odin's plan puts Ethan in danger."

As we previously reported, according to the Toronto Sun, "Extant" shifted from its 9pm time slot to 10pm due to Halle Berry's TV series' disappointing ratings in comparison to "Under the Dome," CBS' summer event series last year," the Toronto Sun reports.

This leads to the ultimate questions: will there be an "Extant" season 2? As of now, CBS has yet to make a final decision about renewing "Extant" - though it was promoted as a "limited series," the developing storyline could easily develop into a season 2, similarly to the trajectory of "Under the Dome". On Sept. 16, creator Mickey Fisher was reportedly "still waiting" to learn the fate of "Extant" ahead of the Sept. 17 season finale - or what could turn into the series finale.

According to Deadline, "Extant" was supposed to wrap up its season with a two-hour finale September 24, right after the first episode of the new season of "Survivor," the publication writes. But now the finale is airing one week earlier than originally planned. The shift is likely a move to keep the finale separate from premiere week competition, according to IGN.
