Shoujo Anime 2014: 'Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun' Gets Good Reviews, Fans Worry 'Wolf Girl & Black Prince' Will Make Kyoya Too Nice, And 'Gugure! Kokkori-San' To Arrive October 5th

Shoujo fangirls have plenty to keep themselves busy with lately. "Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun" is getting great reviews for it's comedy as it continues to stream on Hulu and Crunchyroll. The announcement of the "Wolf Girl & Black Prince" anime has manga fans worried Kyoya will be too nice in appearance and the "Gugere! Kokkori-San" anime adaptation will air soon, so there's plenty to catch up on in preparation.

"I can't really call this anime a romantic comedy since there's more comedy than romance. This show truly is just a pure comedy that throws one punch line after another instead of a typical romantic comedy is suppose to have an even balance between the two genres," said 4Tifier, a top reviewer on Crunchyroll when talking about currently airing "Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun." So far the anime is up to it's 11th simulcast episode and based on the reviews, it's shaping up to be one of the most popular shoujo anime this year.

Shoujo fans however are a bit concerned about the upcoming anime adaptation of "Wolf Girl & Black Prince." The popular shoujo manga, which is currently has a 2.5 million print run, will be adapted by TYO Animations, according to a recent article by Crunchyroll. In that same post, some fans show concern that Kyoya, the main male character that plans to turn Erika into his slave in exchange for pretending to be her boyfriend, seems a bit too nice.

"I was honestly worried for a while now that they were making him look soooo much more nice than he actually is. Cuz in the manga he just doesn't give off as much of a sparkly feeling as he does in the visuals they have been putting out . But the last 20 seconds of that video redeemed the manga to anime portrayal," said TheOriginalJaZz. No air date has been set for the adaptation, but if it matches the popularity of the manga, it's sure to have shoujo fans' attention.

"Gugure! Kokkori-San," which was one of the top 10 most anticipated fall anime as voted by female anime fans, is all set to premiere on October 5th. Until then, Anime News Network has the latest trailer and character profiles for viewing here.

Although there's only three more months left in 2014, shoujo anime appears to be alive and well.
