‘Paranormal Activity 5’ Updates: Official Title To Be ‘Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension’, Fast Tracked For March 2015 'Friday The 13th' Release Date

Back in 2009 when "Paranormal Activity" had it's first theatrical release, perhaps no one knew what would become of the frightening found footage film. Now it's a successful franchise that is getting its next installment, sooner than expected. Today it was announced that "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" (what was previously called "Paranormal Activity 5") would be fast tracked for release in March of next year.

Years ago around the time of the premiere of "Paranormal Activity 3," Screenrant interviewed the franchises' creator and original director Oren Peli. He commented on the status of the franchise at that time: "Well I wouldn't say that I decided to create a franchise. I just did the first one, and I did it as a stand alone movie, and I never even thought that there were going to be more movies." Now he's five (six technically) films in, and while he's no longer on board for anything other than producing, it's probably safe to say he never saw this many films coming.

"Paranormal Activity 5" may be what fans have referred to it as since the release of "The Marked Ones," but the official name is now "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension," according to The Wrap. Additionally, Screenrant reports that, "The Ghost Dimension script by Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark - the writing duo behind next year's time-travel found-footage adventure Project Almanac - is said to involve a different family, who are haunted by familiar supernatural forces after the silly humans (what else?) move into a new house."

Perhaps the best part of the news is that the film will be fast tracked for an official release on March 13th, 2015, as reported by Bloody Disgusting. That date is not so surprisingly next year's U.S. superstitious holiday, Friday the 13th.

Despite what some horror film junkies wish, this will likely not be the final film in the franchise. Rumors have been circulating that the ending has been planned for, and "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" is just another stepping stone on the path to that ending.
