T-Mobile Personal Hotspot Is Here! CellSpot Tech Aims To Optimize Wi-Fi Calling, Deliver Fast Data; $25 Deposit For Existing Customers

T-Mobile Personal hotspot is here for you through the newly unveiled Personal CellSpot service. The router enables T-Mobile subscribers to make calls outside of the company’s network by tapping into WiFi and it’s available for existing customers for a $25 deposit.

“For years, the big phone company utilities have told you where you can and can’t have coverage. And wherever their networks can’t reach, you’re SOL,” said John Legere, T-Mobile CEO in the company press release.

“With T-Mobile Personal CellSpot, we’re putting an end to that old way of thinking. Now, you can decide wherever you want your own T-Mobile tower− giving you amazing full-bars experience where no carrier network has reached before.”

The carrier also noted that the “T-Mobile Personal CellSpot comes with unique patent-pending technology that prioritizes voice calls for crystal clear HD voice.”

According to CNET, T-Mobile has been making a significant push on Wi-Fi calling. The company which labels itself as the “Uncarrier” launched a program last called dubbed “Wi-Fi Unleashed” to get more of its customers to make calls and exchange text messages over a Wi-Fi network.

In an eary review by ZDNet’s Matthew Miller [link: https://www.zdnet.com/t-mobile-personal-cellspot-hands-on-never-worry-about-signal-strength-in-your-home-again-7000033767/] , he noted that the Personal CellSpot is an Asus TM-AC1900 dual-band wireless router designed to extend Wi-Fi signal throughout your home, up to 3,000 square feet of stated coverage.

The Wi-Fi calling that the CellSpot enabled “sounded great and the signal stayed throughout my house, garage, and backyard,” Miller noted during his test of the device. A pop-up notification or a beep sound will appear as you approach the edge of your Wi-Fi coverage radius, the tech writer added.

Aside from the Pesonal CellSpot, T-Mobile also announced the availability of Free Inflight Texting for its subscribers via the GoGo Inflight WiFi. Customers would be able to send and receive unlimited text and pictures messages, as well as visual voicemail, on any GoGo-equipped flight on U.S. based airlines.
