NBA 2K15 Introduces Face Scan Technology: Learn How To Create Your Own 3D Version For PS4 And XBox One

"In NBA 2K15, we’re introducing our brand new face scan feature to put yourself in the game like never before."

The guys at 2K Sports were not kidding when they said #yourtimehascome.

NBA 2K15 will be out on October 7 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.

One of the most awaited feature, is the introduction of the new face scan technology.

People say that the NBA 2K series had been behind its competitor in other sports gaming franchise when it comes to creating custom players. But with this new innovation, the series just jumped in front of the line.

In 2K15, you can scan your face and have a, well, face off, against some of the biggest NBA players such as Jordan, LeBron and Durant.

For the face scan feature to work you need either an Xbox One or a Playstation 4 camera. Kinect-less Xbox One users need not worry as they can also buy standalone Kinects just before 2K15 goes on sale.

Here's a quick video of how the facial scan technology works.

It's quite simple. Just hold the console camera six to 12 inches away from your face and slowly turn your head 30 degrees to the left and right while it scans. According to 2K Sports, this only takes approximately 30 seconds to finish. The camera then maps the full face and creates a full 3D model. You can even provide the points of reference for your face if the scan results were not as accurately as you had hoped. Now, if you're still not satisfied, you can go further and make a few modifications to your character. Created players can then be used in MyCareer mode.

2K Sports had hinted this was coming with the #yourtimehascome hashtag a few months back. Now your face can be there in the NBA, playing in front of the cheering crowds. Now, who wouldn't want that?

NBA 2K15 was said to be the first game on next gen consoles to allow players to create a true, 3D representation of their face

In addition to the video demonstration, 2K Sports also released this hilarious promotional video for 2K15 called "The Beard Guru". The ad stars Houston Rockets guard James Harden as he preps up for 2K15's face scan feature.
