Apple TV 2014 Release Date: Set-Top Box Gets Update W/ Beats Music, Family Sharing; October Launch For New Version Still Anticipated

Apple TV 2014: Apple’s set-top box which now has more than 20 million users according to Apple CEO Tim Cook received an update recently. It also had some new addition in features including Beats Music and Family Sharing. Many anticipate that the Cupertino tech giant will unveil a new version of the iOS-powered unit next month.

According to The Verge, the first thing you’ll notice in the design update is that the icons for music, TV shows, movies, and other apps are more in line with the visual style of of the iOS 7 and iOS 8. The device’s on screen font has also been changed. There is also a new addition to the line up, the Beats Music App.

Apple recently unveiled its new flagship handset, the iPhone 6 and the its very first phablet, the iPhone 6 Plus, on September 9. The event marks the beginning of Apple’s new product launches which many say could include a new Apple TV for this year.

In an August 17 report, MacWorld UK notes that an Apple Premium Reseller in Slovakia suggested that Apple would be updating the Apple TV within the month. A contact of the reseller claims that Apple had stopped selling the current Apple TV line to resellers. It’s been weeks since what the Slovakian reseller has claimed and there has been no update.

A current giveaway in the UK and US of £25 or $25 iTunes vouchers with sale of Apple TV is also prompting many to think that Appple is trying to shift the last load of Apple TV boxes prior to unveiling a new and updated unit. The deal ends in September 30, thus leading many to speculate that an October 1 release date for a new Apple TV is possible.

The rumors of a new Apple TV and possibly a full Apple TV set has been continuously circulating, specially since in an interview with Charlie Rose, Cook said that that “TV is one that we continue to have great interest in.”
