Come 2016, X-Men Spinoff Comes To The Screen, 'Deadpool 'Played By Ryan Reynolds

Wade Wilson is about to get his own screen time as 20th Century Fox and Marvel Comics are gearing towards the release of the 'X-Men' spinoff, 'Deadpool,' in 2016, reports Hollywood Reporter.

The article said that this has been made known by the two companies and Ryan Reynolds will reportedly play 'Deadpool,' a role he will reprise when he was once cast as Wade Wilson in 2009's 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine.'

Prior to the announcement, Reynolds test footage playing Deadpool circulated online, it was however a shot in 2012.

Reynolds previously played another superhero character, Green Lantern, but reception was a flop.

Deadpool is has been described as a 'mercenary and anti-hero,' and like Wolverine he has the healing powers and known for his martial arts prowess.

Deadpool is also known for his wisecracks and talkative nature and according to reports; Reynolds comedic talent makes him fit to play Deadpool.

Earlier quoted in an interview with Niagara Falls Review, Reynolds said that the leaked footage had somehow spurred the progress of the plans to make a movie.

"There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like,'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving his character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the Internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually," Reynolds stated.

He added, "and it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."

The announcement also included changes in some of the studio line up. 'Assassin Creed' had to take a backseat for a while. The film was earlier set to be in the cinema by 2015, but instead will be moved to 2016.

Hollywood Reporter said that the script had to undergo changes several times and scheduling has been a factor of the delay too, Fantastic Four meanwhile hits the screens in 2015.
