iPhone 6 Australia Launch Flocked By Customers; First Person To Get The Mobile Device In Perth Drops It On Concrete

As expected, the iPhone Australia launch was flocked by consumers, some of them even camped the night before.

One of the many people who awaited the iPhone Australia launch was Jack Cooksey, who was the first to get a hold of the mobile phone in Perth. Lucky for him, he got first dibs. The luck did not last long, though, as Cooksey dropped the new device on hard concrete while being interviewed by a local news outfit. Fortunately the phone survived the drop.

The lines in Apple stores in Australia during the launch were reportedly incredibly long, with one store having more than a thousand people waiting outside for its doors to open.

An incredible turnout was also sighted in Apple's Sydney flagship store. ZDNet reported that some were in line as early as Sunday and even flew from South Korea to get a hold of the device.

"Two years ago, we were here, too. "It's like a festival for iPhone users," said Jin Sik Kim, a representative of Asamo, an iPhone online community based in Korea. "It's really exciting for users."

But flying from South Korea was not the most surprising news about the people who lined up during the launch. A California resident David Rahimi flew all the way from the US to pick up his reserved order.

"At midnight California time last Friday, we went online, made our reservations, and made sure we got the phones that we wanted, and now this morning, we're here. It was for vacation, but we also wanted to be one of the first in the world to get the new iPhones," Rahimi explained.

Meanwhile, a student from China was reportedly kicked out of the line by police during the iPhone Australia launch in George Street.

"I just feel so excited by the iPhone but the shop did nothing [to stop people pushing in]," the student said. "It's a waste of my heart, waste of my love."
