‘Psycho-Pass 2’ Updates: Official Release Date Set For October 9th, New Cast Announcements, New Trailer And More [VIDEO]

Yesterday was NoitaminA day on Fuji TV in Japan and the network has finally announced the official release date for "Psycho-Pass 2." In addition to this, fans will have plenty to speculate over as the official website has also revealed two new promotional videos, a new key-visual, and new voice cast members.

Gen Urobuchi, affectionately referred to as "The Butcher" because his work often features dark themes and characters tragically being murdered, recently stated in an interview with Anime News Network, "...One of the most important themes I was trying to convey in the creation of ‘Psycho-Pass was ‘fear' in the world. That's why he has this sense of feeling out of place." Although Urobuchi won't be writing the script for "Psycho-Pass 2," he did supervise production so his influence will no doubt be apart of the upcoming second season.

According to Anime News Network, "The official website for the ‘Psycho-Pass 2' television anime announced the new series' staff and cast on Friday. The website also announced that the show will premiere on Fuji TV's Noitamina block at night on Thursday, October 9, and unveiled a promotional video, TV spot, and new key visual."

The new cast members highlights are Keiji Fujiwara, Marina Inoue, Ryohei Kimura. If Fujiwara's voice sounds familiar although you're pretty sure it's not from another anime, it's because the voice actor frequents RPGs, including voicing Axel in "Kingdom Hearts 2." He is set to voice the character of Sakuya Tougane.

Fans with a keen eye will notice there is currently no mention of Kogami making an appearance in this season. Recall that rumors were circulating that season two might explore his back story. So far, based on the trailers that were released and no mention of his name in the main cast it's more likely that the new season will have an all new plot. But knowing Urobuchi, there is always room for tragic surprise.

Funanimation has licensed "Psycho-Pass 2" but no official announcement as to whether it will be simulcast for U.S. fans while it airs in Japan. There's still a few weeks to go so here's hoping their translators are hard at work to make the simulcast possible. In the meantime, fans can check out the new trailers for "Psycho-Pass 2" below.
