New "Vampire Diaries" season 6 spoilers reveal that Caroline will be set up with a new love interest, following the premiere date 2014! Will Elena prove herself as a good matchmaker for her bestie Caroline?

TVLine reports Elena will try to set up Caroline with her new pre-med friend Liam (Maro James), as she thinks they're "the perfect match."

But as we previously reported, Caroline may have her heart set on Stefan. We're not quite sure if Elena is aware of how serious Caroline is about Elena's ex-boyfriend - or maybe that's exactly the reason Elena is trying to steer Caroline in another direction. Will sparks fly between Caroline and Liam? We'll have to tune in for the premiere date 2014 to find out!

As we previously reported and according to TVLine, spoilers reveal Caroline and Stefan's romance will become "a major part" of "Vampire Diaries" season 6, but it isn't exactly a "two-way street."

"She's going to realize it's a little more one-sided than she was hoping, and there's going to be some fallout from that," executive producer Caroline Dries said. "But just because one character doesn't like another character, that doesn't mean it's not a fascinating love story."

IB Times reports Stefan "doesn't have the emotional energy for a relationship" after all that happened in "Vampire Diaries" season 5, including the loss of his brother, Damon, to the Other Side.

Unfortunately for Steroline fans, Stefan is still "a typical guy who just sees Caroline as a friend."

Meanwhile, four months after the season 5 finale, Elena is still "grieving" for Damon, but also "excelling in her pre-med program," Dries told TVLine.

Bonnie and Damon's whereabouts will unfold "slowly" as they continue to "get on each other's nerves like an old married couple."

Tyler will embrace his "second chance" at humanity, but will discover "the rage is still inside him" and he can't escape it.

Matt will finally get to live in Mystic Falls without having to constantly watch his back. We'll also learn more about Liv and Luke's "dark past" and "destiny," which will reveal why they came to Whitmore College.

"Vampire Diaries" season 6 premiere date is Thursday, Oct. 2, at 8/7c on The CW.
