Dishonored 2 Rumors Explode With Alleged Leaked Photos And Screenshots That Are Most Likely Fake: Bethesda Refuses To Comments, But Previously Said They Would Make "Dishonored 2" At Some Point [PHOTO]

There have been several rumors about "Dishonored 2" sweeping ther internet. Before we go any further into the how and why and what has been leaked it is critical to say that these are rumors, and that none of it has been confirmed by Bethesda.

First of, "Dishonored" was a sucessful game, so it seems likely there will be a sequel at some point. Bethesda has made a lot of noise about becoming a major franchise.

AirHerald reports, " In an interview with IGN, Pete Hines of Bethesda hinted at a sequel to Dishonored, stating "In general, we try not to wade into anything as a one-off in the first place . . . The success of [Dishonored] and how proud Arkane is of it and what goes on at any studio when they put out something like that and all the ideas that are coming out, certainly it's something that we feel is a franchise." Dishonored met with positive reviews and sales that exceeded Bethesda's expectations, so it stands to reason that the developers and fans alike would desire a sequel to be made.

Then back in March an alleged E3 slide showed a presentation on a Dishonroed sequel called Darkness of Tyvia. It didn't show up at E3 and likely was a fake, and the rumor mill died down.

Then NowGamer went live with details allegedly leaked by an anonymous insider source.

According to the site's report "Dishonored 2" is in the works at Arkane Lyon, with Harvey Smith as lead. It will star a new protagonist. Arkane reportedly weighed up the possibility of letitng players take the role of empress Emily Kaldwin, who was a child in the first game, suggesting a later time period than the original.

The revealed cover art would be easy to mock-up. The image follows an off-screen photo of a slide from a presentation posted earlier this week. According to the fact sheet, the Arkane Studios game is being developed using id Tech 5 and will be released in 2016.

Players will step into the shoes of a new main character who must "annihilate the outsider" in the new location of Tyvia. It also mentioned DOOM beta access, which was previously announced as pre-order incentive for Wolfenstein: The New Order; however, there is a spelling error in there, so it was either cut-off or it is indeed a fake sheet.

However, another source claims the spelling mistake was due to it being an early draft of the document.

However, NowGamer notes that the information it received had to do with discussions that were held about a year ago. It also said the game will be out in the fall of 2015 on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. There were no mentions of Xbox 360 or PS3 versions. It also said it would be revealed in August, which it wasn't.

PlayStation Lifestyle said, "We woke up this morning to rumors that we really hope hold some truth. According to an anonymous tipster, Dishonored II: Darkness of Tyvia will be unveiled at Gamescom in August, and he supplied VG247 with the PlayStation 4 pre-order boxart," which can be viewed here.

The recent rumors should be taken as just rumors. Previous ones about the game being revealed at E3 were bogus, while an alleged leak earlier this year about box art was likely fake. So "Dishonored 2" will likely happen at some point, but most of the information out there right now is probably just not ture.

Check back for more "Dishonored 2" information as it becomes available.
