Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: After Launching Rivals For iPhone 6 And 6 Plus, Korean Tech Giant Now Aiming At HTC's 64-Bit-Powered Devices

There are no shortages when it comes to upcoming Samsung phones for 2014, and that is primarily headlined by the metal-clad duo, the Galaxy Alpha and Note 4, and the unique-looking Galaxy Note Edge.

However, in true Samsung fashion, it looks like the Korean manufacturer is still not done in launching smartphones that will rival its competition.

After the Galaxy Alpha and Note 4 which are primarily the rivals of the newly announced iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, rumors are now pointing to not just one, but two additional smartphones which pack similar design.

According to reports by GSM Arena, the Korean company is preparing the Galaxy A5 and A3 phones. Bearing the model names SM-A500 and SM-A300, the two Android phones are spec'd and probably priced similar to the new HTC Desire 510 and 820 midrangers.

Based on previous rumors, the Galaxy A5 will be a midrange Galaxy Alpha, and would pack the same 5-inch 720p display, but a lower 1GB of RAM and Snapdragon 400. Other alleged specs include a 13MP primary camera, 5MP front cam, a 16GB built-in memory and a microSD card slot.

Meanwhile, the lower end model is the Galaxy A3, and should match up well with the Desire 510. Both devices share the same 64-bit chipset, Snapdragon 410, made by Qualcomm. Also on board the device is an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP shooter based on its leaked User Agent Profile.

Both the Galaxy A5 and A3 are expected to get the same metal frame of their older sibling. However, rumors point out that the A5 will even boast a metal back, unlike the Alpha.

As for these two upcoming Samsung phones, even before they are released, we already have an idea what they are for - to beat HTC in the midrange game that it hopes it will dominate.
