‘Gone Girl’ Updates: New TV Spot Features A Frustrated Ben Affleck, Trent Reznor Previews Film Soundtrack On ‘Nine Inch Nails’ Official Website [VIDEO]

These days it is not rare for novels to make their way to the big screen, but with a book as critically acclaimed as "Gone Girl," the rare opportunity to become a critically acclaimed film seems to be a likely expectation. It is especially so when you have Academy Award winners attached to the project such as director David Fincher and lead actor Ben Affleck. The film is due out in October but there's a new TV spot and film score preview for fans chew over in preparation for its release.

"It's a much darker film than I was expecting. The book is not exactly uplifting or happy, but it's a nasty film," said Trent Reznor a few months back in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Based on what has been released so far, it would appear that the film adaptation of popular novel "Gone Girl" will not contain sunshine and flowers, but might even be darker than the already largely dark book. Nevertheless, if there's something Fincher can do as a director, it's make a dark film enjoyable.

"Gone Girl," which is set to premiere next week as the opening film for the New York Film Festival, has already grabbed a lot of attention and continues to do so with its latest TV spot. It features a very adamant Ben Affleck, as he plays a husband who has been accused of murdering his missing wife Amy. Anyone who has read the novel knows plenty of what's in store for Nick throughout the film, but given what everyone on the project is saying about Fincher's adaptation of the project, it may get even grittier on screen.

As for how the film will sound, Trent Reznor and partner Atticus Ross are teaming up again to create the film's soundtrack. Today, via the official Nine Inch Nails website, a new track from the soundtrack is available for preview.  "The Way He Looks At Me," offers the same haunting feeling (if even darker) than some of the songs from Reznor and Ross' Oscar nominated soundtrack for "The Social Network."

Although "Gone Girl" has some Oscar buzz already, no one can know for sure what to make of it until the film's theatrical release on October 3rd. So far, the latest film from Fincher is looking to at least please fans of the book with how true it's sticking to the tone. Check out the new TV spot and soundtrack preview below.
