Unofficial Guide To Fall 2014 Horror Films: ‘Annabelle’, ‘Ouija,’ And ‘V/H/S Viral’ To Lead Horror Genre Box Office This Fall? [VIDEO]

While fall quarter may be the beginning of Oscar season, it is also the time where horror films can draw their biggest box office numbers. Halloween is a particularly exciting holiday and what better way to celebrate than sitting down for a film that promises to terrify and excite? This fall has plenty of horror film options, but the films that will more than likely rake in the millions are forecasted to be "Annabelle," "Ouija" and somewhat paradoxically, "V/H/S Viral."

"Annabelle" - Estimated Weekend Gross, $18 Million

"This is good, I thought the only scary part of the ‘Conjuring' was the beginning where they talked about Annabelle, so yes, more of that," said horror fan Chrissie Wakins in a comment on popular horror site, Bloody Disgusting. It would appear that she is not the only one that has high hopes for the film as Box Office is already predicting that the film will debut at number 2 when it is released on October 3rd. For those not familiar, the film will give the origin story to the creepy doll that dominated the horror subplot of critically acclaimed horror film, "The Conjuring."

"Ouija" - Estimated Weekend Gross, $24 Million

Most of "Ouija's" box office estimation has to do with the fact that it will come out on October 24th, a coveted close to Halloween date that often draws people looking for something "scary" to do in celebration. In addition, it's competition that week will be "Dracula Untold" which Box Office predicts will debut at a lousy $8 Million opening weekend. But the teen actor heavy horror film about the popular ghost conjuring board game may have to contend with audiences still interested in "Annabelle," and the latest found footage compilation horror film, "V/H/S Viral."

"V/H/S Viral" - Estimated Weekend Gross, ???

Admittedly, this film shouldn't actually be on this list because it is headed straight for the internet on October 23rd. However, that may cut into numbers for "Ouija," since it has a strong indie film fanbase that caused it to go from a stand alone film festival hit into a successful franchise. Not to mention that the film industry is always worried that audiences are starting to prefer internet platforms for viewing as opposed to heading out to the theaters. Nevertheless, this film deserves an honorable mention if only because of the other horror films due out this fall, almost none have the same kind of cult following that "V/H/S" does.
