According to the official synopsis of "What Jesus Said," Episode 3 of Season 5, "Margaret finds herself in a pickle due to her dealings with the late Arnold Rothstein when his widow starts snooping around his covert affairs. Meanwhile, Chalky wonders where his latest partnership is going; Nucky talks shop with a prominent businessman from Boston; Luciano and Siegel try to strike a deal with Narcisse in Harlem; and in 1884, a young Nucky works hard at the hotel and catches the eye of a girl who's vacationing with her parents."

What happened on "Boardwalk Empire" last week?

On "The Good Listener," last Sunday's episode, "Nucky visits Johnny Torrio in New York City to discuss his close call in Cuba and find out if new Mafia boss Salvatore Maranzano had anything to do with it. Meanwhile, law-school graduate Willie has a job interview; Eli and Nelson's liquor stash is raided by Eliot Ness in Chicago; and Joseph Kennedy listens to Nucky's pitch for post-Prohibition prosperity. Also: A young Nucky and his family mourn the loss of his sister, Susan, in 1884."

What should we look forward to for tonight's episode and the rest of the season? Warning: some spoilers ahead!

Newsday reports, "Just eight episodes long and two episodes in, "Boardwalk Empire" has already made a compelling case for another Best Drama nod for this, its fifth and final season. Sunday's third episode - "What Jesus Said" - continues to make the case, only less slightly. All in all, this remains a particularly fine season so far. Quickly, an overview without spoilers: Chalky (Michael K. Williams) and Buck make a pit stop...Nucky (Steve Buscemi) gets a little friendlier with one Joseph Kennedy of Boston, Massachusetts (played memorably, flawlessly, by Matt Letscher)...Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) gets squeezed over her former associate's activities...and Nucky, as a boy, kisses a horse...Is that spoiler-free enough? What I liked initially about this season, and continue to like very much, is the effortless and ongoing pushing of the reset button - without creating an entirely different series in the process. "Empire" needed to deepen Nucky, and redeem Nucky in some respects - that mission continues, successfully. It needed to more fully explore the racial component of this series, with Chalky more the counterpart to Nucky than Valentin Narcisse (Jeffrey Wright), who also makes his first appearance of the season Sunday."

According to next week's episode synopsis of "Boardwalk Empire," called "Cuanto," there's drama in the air as the final season continues. TV Guide reports, "Luciano encounters an old foe in Chicago, while Nucky and Margaret find common ground in Atlantic City when they face the same dilemma. Meanwhile, Sally conducts business in Cuba as rumors swirl of a public uprising; and in 1884, a young Nucky continues to impress the Commodore, and gives Eli a glimpse of what the future may hold." Episode 4 already looks very promising!
