Jennifer Hudson Previews New Album JHUD; Says 'It's Expressive Of My Energy And My Everyday Person.'

A preview of Jennifer Hudson's new album "JHUD" was made available for streaming online.

Jennifer Hudson's new album, which the American Idol alum referred to as being "expressive of [her] energy and [her] everyday person" was made available for streaming until the 23rd of September.

In an interview with NPR, Hudson described the sound of her new record. "The other music before, the space I was in was more about singing right notes and being just about that. But now this time, I have a new take on what music represents for me and it's just more celebrating it."

The Chicago native also spoke to Billboard magazine and dished some personal stuff, aside from bits and pieces about her new album.

Hudson shared how she feels about being given the nickname JHUD, which she used as the title of her 2014 record, saying "Everybody's been calling me JHUD. No one calls me Jennifer Hudson anymore. I grew up being called Jenny Kate, so this is like the world's version of Jenny Kate."

She also talked about how it was like working with Pharell. "Where we connect is we both have a love of old-school music," shared Hudson. "He'll come in with a track and then I'm like, 'I already know where I'm going with this. I feel you.'"

Asked about what plans she has after her new album, Hudson shared "I want my next album to be a live album, like an old Aretha performance where she sat at the piano and played ... Then eventually I want to do opera because I sing opera as well. But my ultimate goal is to do the ultimate gospel album."

Jennifer Hudson's new album will be available on iTunes, Amazon and record stores on September 23.
