All gears have been set for the premiere of "American Horror Story" season 4 as photos of the main characters included in "Freak Show" have recently been released.

In the episodic character photos of "American Horror Story" season 4, we can start to connect the stories and spoilers we've learned about the show to the faces of the characters.

One of the many reasons to watch out for "Freak Show" is the character of Twisty the clown, who the show's co-creator Ryan Murphy said is "the most terrifying clown of all time."

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Murphy described the character of Twisty the Clown, which will be played by John Carroll Lynch. "We said in the writer's room that if we were going to do clowns, we were going to create the most terrifying clown of all time," said Murphy. "That was our goal when we were writing him ... but I'm worried that people are going to have cardiac arrests."

Murphy went on to discuss how some of the people he worked with reacted during the filming of the show's first episode, which introduced Twisty the Clown, saying: "Two crew members told me they have had nightmares about this clown since we started shooting and they're not even scared of clowns."

He also hinted at a backstory that will be tackled with regards to Twisty's character. "I think he's pretty extraordinary because, when you see why he's a clown and why he's wearing the mask ... just you wait," Murphy teased.

Lynch also shared some of his thoughts about the character he will be playing on "American Horror Story" season 4. "His actions are horrific, but his motives are really strangely, oddly pure," said Lynch. "And that's what is most human and most disturbing about it."
