Iggy Azalea Sues Ex-Boyfriend for Copping Songs on a Jump Drive

Iggy Azalea has been in the news lately for the leaked sex tape, which Azalea already labeled as fake, but she's not done with that ex-boyfriend.

Iggy Azalea sued her ex-boyfriend Maurice Williams, a rapper who goes by the stage name Jefe Wine, for allegedly stealing songs from her personal computer. The Hollywood Reporter reported that Iggy Azalea sued Jefe Wine for releasing early master recordings. The lawsuit asks for compensatory damages, plus interest at the legal rate and statutory damages for each copyright infringement. According to reports, without the permission of Iggy Azalea, Wine released songs he downloaded.  Azalea says her ex-boyfriend downloaded the songs "onto a jump drive without her consent.

According to court docs, Azalea says that the music was stolen off of her computer around 2008 and was never completed nor approved by her for commercial use. The complaint says "Williams downloaded the entire contents of Azalea's personal computer," including unreleased master recordings.

The songs were recorded before Iggy became famous. Azalea's birth name was Amethyst Kelly. According to The Hollywood Reporter Azalea she met Williams in 2008. The Australian native came to Texas at age 17, and they became a couple. Wine allegedly put Azalea up in an apartment, according to the complaint. Azalea claims she did not know that Williams was already married with children.

Wine reportedly told Iggy that he was a partner in a oil company. In 2009, Jefe followed Iggy to Atlanta and moved in with her. The "Black Widow" rapper says Wine illegally copied data from her laptop while they were living together. Iggy Azalea's ex-boyfriend/producer also claims that he shot a sex tape with the rapper.

The rapper claimed in California federal court that her ex-boyfriend, who also allegedly leaked the Iggy Azalea sex tape, faked a contract that gave him the right to release an album of Azalea's early material. TMZ reported that Azalea accused Wine of illegally copying every ounce of data on her computer. That includes master recordings that have never been heard by the public.

On July, 24, 2014, a Primco, ESMG, Top Sail and Wine Enterprises, Inc., joint venture put out a press release that claimed they had "secured the rights" to release an EP by Azalea titled Inizio. In the press release Williams is quoted as saying, "We believe the merger will be monumental because the projects that we have coming down the pipeline are going to shock the world!"

Wine claimed Iggy signed over legal documents that allowed him exclusive rights to her music and music videos. Azalea claims the documents were forged together from an old document that she had signed with a management firm run by a man named Kareem Chapman. She claimns the contract was changed to read as a music recording and composition agreement after the rapper put her signature on it. According to reports Williams introduced Azalea to Chapman.

Azalea is suing Wine for violating copyright on songs like "It Ain't Tricking," "U Ain't My Daddy," "Take My Picture," "Red Bottoms," "Supernova" and "Miss International."
