[VIDEO] ‘The Taking of Deborah Logan’ Gets A New Trailer And October Release Date, Will It Cut Into Box Office Projections For ‘Ouija’?

October usually marks the permeation of Oscar-bait as well as the latest studio horror films, and the latest horror film to land an October release date is "The Taking of Deborah Logan." The found footage possession film also released a new trailer. With the premiere being close to Halloween, one might begin to wonder if the box office predictions for a number one debut from "Ouija" may be cut into.

Director Adam Robitel recently talked to Shock Till You Drop about how the idea for "The Taking of Deborah Logan" came to life: "The idea that a disease could steal our minds, while we were healthy in every other sense of the word, terrified me. As I started to research the subject, I learned that because many of us are living longer, one in four of us will face some type of dementia before we die." It would seem that Robitel will attempt to make the audience as afraid of Alzheimers as he is, given that the newest trailer for the documentary style horror film looks at the disease as though it isn't a disease at all.

For a while the only available viewing for the film was going to be a VOD and DVD release on November 4th. Now, according to Bloody Disgusting the film will receive an actual theatrical release right in time for Halloween celebration on October 21st. This announcement however does make one wonder how the box office prediction for that weekend might change due to "Ouija" not being the only horror film available for viewing that weekend. Currently, Box Office Pro has pegged "Ouija" to debut at number one and take in $24 million in its opening weekend.

No matter what happens at the box office that weekend, it looks like there will be plenty of scares for audiences throughout the month of October. Until then, fans can check out the newest trailer for "The Taking of Deborah Logan," below.
