George Clooney News: Actor Says He's Ready For Parenthood With Amal Alamuddin; Names Famous Personality To Officiate Wedding

In latest George Clooney news, the man who was once the world's most eligible bachelor has made public that he is now ready to face the challenge of parenthood with the soon-to-be wife Amal Alamuddin.

The 53-year-old actor is set to marry the British human rights lawyer in April 2015. The two announced their engagement in April 2014. According to People Magazine, which is on point with its George Clooney news, the couple had started going out in public around October the previous year.

"George is saying he's ready to do this - he thought he never wanted children, but meeting Amal has made him realise he is ready for family. He's so glad the she has come into his life and knows he wants her to be the mother of his kids," writes Yahoo! citing the UK print magazine Closer.

"He's saying that he's looking forward to holding his own child, and watching him or her grow. He wants to be a part of something that's bigger than him," the article added.

The marriage with Alamuddin is Clooney's second, after his divorce with actress Talia Balsam in 1993. The actor has been very vocal about his affections for his fiancee and makes no intention of being discreet.

In fact, according to EOnline, he said this in a speech at the Celebrity Fight Night Gala in Italy in early September: "I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, who I will be marrying in a couple of weeks in Venice, of all places. Amal, I love you to death and I cannot wait to become your husband."

In related Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney news, another People Magazine article reveals that Walter Veltroni will be conducting the marriage ceremony. Veltroni is an Italian author, journalist and former mayor Rome (2001 to 2008), who is a very close friend of the Clooney family. In the past, the actor has told media that he compares the 59-year-old Veltroni to Barack Obama, in that he "appeals to the young, speaks of hope and a clean environment, [which is] rare in Italian politics."
