Star Trek 3 release date may be earlier than expected?

Following news that Roberto Orci is done with the first draft of the movie's plot, Mr. Spock himself, played by Zachary Quinto, revealed to Cinema Blend that the production may start in six month time.

"I think it's on the horizon. Things are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be in production sometime in the next six months."

Star Trek 3 release date is supposedly scheduled on the series 50th anniversary on 2016.

Meanwhile, news about "Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies" star Benedict Cumberbatch returning to reprise his roles as Khan sparks following his statement with MTV during the San Diego Comic-Con festivities.

"Maybe. He is in a freezer...we have all defrosted chicken in our day...Set the toaster to defrost and he will come out all bad and angry again. I don't know. It depends on what direction they are going to take. There is definitely room for him to come back in some shape or form."

Meanwhile, Zachary Quinto who played Spock stopped by and commented on the news of Cumberbatch returning on the franchise.

"Any chance to work with Benedict...But I don't know if it is now or later. I don't know what they have in store for Ben? I would love to have him back."

Newbie writers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will co-write the project with "The Amazing Spiderman 2" director Roberto Orci.

"After an aggressive lobbying campaign, Roberto Orci has emerged as the clear frontrunner to replace JJ Abrams and direct Paramount's third instalment of the 'Star Trek' series," they reveal. "I'm hearing they're in talks... [and] this would amount to another first-time director taking on a massive project."

"The duo will join Roberto Orci, who co-wrote the first two installments of the reboot with partner Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof. Orci is working without Kurtzman on this one.

The next Star Trek film is untitled and unscheduled, but Paramount and Skydance are hoping to have a film in time for the franchise to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2016. Stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana are expected to return," according to Hollywood Reporter.

With the new writers and rumored director, this could mean that Star Trek 3 movie is in good hands but, they still have to wait for Paramount's approval before gearing up.
