Teaser for HTC Waterproof Camera Released; Video Captioned 'Something Remarkable Is Coming'

A teaser video for the HTC waterproof camera has been released. The product, which is slated to rival the GoPro, was previewed in a video posted on the Taiwan-based company's YouTube account.

The clip for the HTC waterproof camera, which will reportedly be formally unveiled on October 8, was posted online with the title "Something remarkable is coming."

The teaser showed underwater shots as well as clips of different locations. The shots in the teaser suggest that previous rumors about the camera's specificatons - it is waterproof, can capture real-time and slow motion video - might be true. The clip also suggests that the camera is mountable to a tripod or stick.

According to a recent report, the camera will reportedly be tubular in shape. The camera is said to sport a 16 megapixel sensor and an ultra-wide angle lens.

In a report from Bloomberg, an insider who wished to remain anonymous claimed that the HTC waterproof camera will have better image quality than GoPro, which has 12 megapixel sensors.

The device will also reportedly have Blutooth and Wifi that enables users to connect the camera to their smartphones. The source also hinted at the development of Android and iOS applications to support the device.

The teaser video reportedly included a link to https://www.recamera.com, which hints at what the camera's name would be.

RE Camera on Twitter also posted a status, saying "Taking a picture has traditionally meant you're busy behind the camera, framing a scene. But what have you been missing?", which fuelled speculations about the device.

Meanwhile, the development of an HTC smartwatch has been bumped off to next year in order to make way for the unveiling of other products.

The HTC waterproof camera will reportedly be unveiled in New York at a press event. A smartphone geared towards taking better self-portraits or selfies will also reportedly be launched.
