Windows 9? More Like Windows 10; Microsoft Unveils New Operating System

Many speculations have been made about the new Microsoft operating system and now the tech giant has finally unveiled Windows 10.

While rumors have been around about "Windows 9," Microsoft has finally quashed them by presenting "Windows 10" on Tuesday in San Francisco.

The new operating system was created in part to support the company's goal to have a unifying sytem for all the devices that run Windows - be it personal computers, mobile phones and gaming devices.

"Windows 10 adapts to the devices customers are using, from Xbox to PCs and phones to tablets and tiny gadets," said Microsoft Windows business executive Terry Myerson.

At the press event, Microsoft showed the return of the Start menu, which have been lacking in the 2012-released Windows 8. There will also be a list of favorite applications or a notification center beside the Start menu, which aims to help users check on their emails or Facebook messages easily.

With users commenting that the previous OS was hard to work with, Microsoft reportedly changed some of the features of the new one and will be sport a more familiar feel.

Myerson said that the new operating system will have more of the features Windows users have loved but will also be different in so many ways. "We've never done this before," he shared. "Together with the feedback you'll provide us, we believe we can build a product that all of us will love."

Meanwhile, the announcement was received with mixed reactions.

Daniel Ives, an analyst at FBR Capital Markets said the move was a "bold statement for Microsoft to make." "So far there's not as much meat on the bone as we would have wanted, although it's still very early days," he added.

Windows 10 will be launched worldwide after next spring and details about pricing have not been divulged.
