Zelda Wii U [NEWS]: Open World Gameplay? Trailer, Bundle & Release Date Updates

The Legend of Zelda game for the Wii U is rumored to include an Open World gameplay feature, Movie Pilot reports.

"It's something we've wanted to do for a long time in The Legend of Zelda series and so development began with this as our focus," EijiAonuma said, according to the site.

"The earlier releases of The Legend of Zelda games players got to explore a wide area scrolling up, down, left and right. However, after the game transitioned to 3D and the hardware began to evolve, it became harder to create that feel of being in a vast world."

Nintendo announced last week that the Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors will be available in stores as well as the company's eShop on Friday, PC magazine reports.

"By combining The Legend of Zelda universe with the game play of the Dynasty Warriors games, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have created a legendary pairing," Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement, according to the magazine.

"Even fans who aren't familiar with both series will have a great time playing this action-packed Wii U exclusive."

A number of gaming websites have criticized the release date version of Zelda Hyrule Warriors for the Wii U., claiming it "suffers from many of the same problems" as previous Dynasty Warriors titles.

"... there's no getting away from the fact that the action in Hyrule Warriors is both shallow and repetitive," Digital Spy writes in a review of the game.

"Visiting familiar Zelda locations and wiping out hundreds of enemies offers brief but satisfying bursts of mindless enjoyment, just don't expect to be engaged in the same way as a full series release."
