’12 And Pregnant’ Stories To Be Released By MTV This Fall? Show To Possibly Face Lawsuits And Backlash If Pursued

Several netizens were outraged when Empire News reported that MTV would produce a reality series entitled "12 and Pregnant." As the name suggests, the show, if pursued, will focus on girls who have been pregnant at a young age.

"Known for hit television shows such as The Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, and The Real World, MTV is always finding a way to bring home the ratings, even when some claim that what they are airing isn't appropriate television. Despite controversy and complaint, the ratings speak for themselves, and the network always seems to find a way to pack the couch and have people watching the channel day-after-day for over 30 years," reads the report.

The article also declared a release for "12 and Pregnant": "Already being filmed, MTV plans on releasing the new show 12 And Pregnant this coming fall."

However, it must be taken into account that Empire News is a "satirical and entertainment website." It even has a disclaimer which confirms the website's inventing of names in its stories.

Renowned fact-checking website Snopes has likewise debunked the alleged airing of the show: "As you may have deduced, the rumor that 12 and Pregnant is coming to MTV is entirely false."

"A disclaimer page on Empire News explains that all content on the site is of 'a satirical and [entertaining]' nature, and other articles on the site include 'Cure for Cancer Discovered; "Amazingly Simple" Says Researcher,' and 'College Student Excused from Classes After Dog Eats Grandmother,' and 'Woman Gives Birth, Confuses Doctors by Asking for Maternity Test,'" added the statement.

To avoid unnecessary drama, some commenters also emphasized the purpose of the Internet in separating fact from fiction.
