Gloria Estefan is deemed an icon in the pop industry but it does not mean that she cannot admire other songstresses younger than her. Recently, the 57-year-old hit maker talked about her admiration for Ariana Grande.

A musical based on Estefan's life entitled "On Your Feet" will come out in the summer of 2015 and when asked about her choice for the lead role, Estefan said: "Ariana Grande would be somebody wonderful."

The "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" songstress explained the reason for her choice: "I saw her when she was eight years old on a cruise ship and she had sung this song, and I literally went up to her and told her and her mom, 'I don't know if you plan on doing this, but this is what you need to be doing because you are an amazing singer.' "

"She was doing karaoke and we were listening because I love to go watch that stuff and it was amazing!" she also told the New York Daily News.

Apart from Estefan's life story, her musical will also feature the story of her husband Emilio Estefan. The two got married in 1978. Auditions for Gloria Estefan's musical took place earlier this month but no announcements were made yet regarding the official cast members.

Meanwhile, Grande is continuously battling rumors of her being a diva. Apart from allegedly walking out of a photo shoot because she didn't like her appearance, Big Sean's girlfriend was reportedly cold during a meet-and-greet with fans.

Nonetheless, the "Bang Bang" songstress defended herself on Twitter. The "Sam & Cat" star says what matters are the people who truly know her. She also claims that she won't ever disrespect her fans.
