Upcoming LG Phones 2014: Meet Smartphone That Will Run LG's Own Odin Chipset, Octa-Core Device Gets Bluetooth 4.0 Certification

LG did not release any new flagships during last month's IFA event in Berlin, but that does not mean the Korean brand is not preparing any upcoming LG phones for 2014.

According to a report by GSM Arena, a new Android-powered handset is making its way to the market in the coming months.

Dubbed as LG Liger, the device has reportedly passed Bluetooth certification which means it may be announced sooner rather than later. So what's so special about this new LG handset?

In the report, the LG Liger will boast the manufacturer first ever Odin chipset. In case you haven't heard, the Odin chipset has been under development since 2013, and a smartphone running on the said SoC is certainly overdue.

However, once the LG Liger becomes official, it will become the first Android smartphone to run on the LG-made Odin SoC.

In the report, the Odin chipset consists of four Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores which make it a powerful chipset for a smartphone.

Meanwhile, there are still no solid reports whether the device would be exclusive for the Korean market, or would make its way to the international scene as well.

LG has done a great job this year catching up to Samsung as one of the top manufacturers in the Android world. It all started with the gorgeous-looking LG G2 last year, and the Korean company banked on its success to produce other notable devices like the G Flex, and the G Pro 2.

After the manufacturer has announced its LG G3 flagship and other higher-end models, it is now targetting the emerging and mass markets with affordable midrangers. We'll see whether the LG Liger is able to meet the expectations of consumers.
