Carmelo Anthony News: Melo Thinks He Is Game's Most Underrated Star

The latest Carmelo Anthony news came straight from the 7-time All Star's words.

In an interview with ESPN's Chris Boussard, Melo answered a question whether he considers himself as an underrated star mainly because of his failure to win any NBA titles in his career.

What's worse, the 30-year-old superstar has never gone past the second round of the playoffs twice in his career.

"I think I'm the most underrated superstar that's out there (laughs) but that doesn't matter to me", says Melo. I know what I'm capable of doing. I know the grind and the hard work I put in to this," Anthony said. "I know how consistent I've been over my career. To do it day in and day out and night in and night out on a very consistent basis year in year out, I know what I can do and I know the work I've put in."

While Anthony has remained consistent throughout his career, averaging 25.7 points in his 10 seasons in the NBA. Some people may put to blame on his teammates, but some critics also claim that Anthony's drive to look and create his own shots does not help New York in the long run.

10 years into the NBA, Melo has only shot the ball an average of 41 percent, while he drained just 32 percent of all his career threes. In all his seasons in the league, Anthony has only averaged 2.8 assists.

In comparison, Kevin Durant has a career average of 27.4 points a game, but has made almost 48 percent of his two-point shots and 37 percent of his three-point attempts. As a result, the Thunder has already made several trips to the conference finals, and a trip to the finals.

In a weaker Eastern Conference, Melo should be able to carry the Knicks to at least the conference finals, but right now there has not been any major acquisitions for New York player-wise. The only thing that will keep the hope burning is the new triangle offense, Derek Fisher as head coach, and Phil Jackson as general manager.
