According to the official synopsis of "Happy Birthday, Zeek," Episode 2 of Season 6, "Kristina attempts to meet the needs of her students at Chambers Academy while Adam deals with a lunch vendor who suddenly quit his job. Elsewhere, Zeek faces a difficult health decision; Sydney has trouble at school, prompting Joel and Julia to visit with her teacher; and Sarah tries to figure out how she feels about Amber's news."

According to Inquisitr, "The final season of Parenthood has started and fans are already dreading the ending. A lot took place during the premiere last week, but now fans want Parenthood spoilers regarding the season 6, episode 2 show airing on Thursday, October 2. What can viewers expect? This one is called "Happy Birthday, Zeek." According to TV Guide, Parenthood spoilers indicate that Zeek Braverman will be facing a difficult health decision in Thursday's episode. Viewers saw that he collapsed in Las Happy Birthday, Zeek with Sarah, but he resisted admitting there might be a serious problem. There is a party in this episode celebrating his birthday, but he's facing some complicated and serious issues, too. Though it will play out throughout the season, it has already been said that the family will face mortality and there may be a heartbreaking loss this season, and it's looking like that may well be Zeek. Will the final season really go that route? Fans won't know for a while yet, but it seems at the very least viewers will see Zeek confronting serious health issues. In addition to Zeek's decision, viewers will see that Sydney is having trouble at school. Joel and Julia's split has taken a toll on the kids, and after a meeting at the school the two try to talk about the situation. Joel laid a kiss on Julia in the season 6 premiere, but she's got a few words to share with him about where things stand."

The Latin Post reported, "TV viewers should brace themselves for an emotionally gripping season of NBC's "Parenthood." Actress Monica Potter, who plays Kristina on the popular sitcom, warned that Thursday's all-new episode will be a real tear jerker. "I have a scene with Zeek that was really, really poignant. I go over to his house and talk with him about being sick, feeling sick," the actress told E! News. She added that she found it difficult to keep her emotions together during the scene. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, show creator Jason Katims dropped several spoilers about the final season. When asked if someone from the Braverman family will die, Katims said, "The season is dealing with the potential loss of someone, I wouldn't say we're saying goodbye to somebody." He went on to explain that "They're dealing with mortality. While we've touched on it in season four with Kristina (Monica Potter), we're dealing with it in a very different way in a way. This is something that affects the entire family and it informs what everybody will go through the whole season. Even the storylines that don't seem like they're going to be connected to that story, they're still affected by it. It's something that definitely influences the whole season. Tonally, the show will have pockets of humor and lighter moments throughout but overall the season will have a lot of gravitas because of the subject matter." The executive producer also promised that the final scene of the series will give be "very emotional," but it will give fans closure. It "also gives a window into the future of all the characters on the show," he said."
