One Direction Steal My Girl: Paramore's Hayley Williams Tweets That 1D Song Is A Rip-off; '1D Song Couldn't Sound Any More Like The Beginning Of New Found Glory's 'It's Not Your Fault'

According to Hayley Williams, the One Direction Steal My Girl song was stolen from a song by New Found Glory.

One Direction Steal My Girl was released by the pop group on September 29, 2014, which will be the first single in their next studio album entitled "Four". The song is expected to be a hit among the band's fans, just like "Best Song Ever" in 2013. In a report by Billboard.com, the song is about an attractive girl with the moves. Billboard described the concept as rather "ridiculous" and "not even particularly innovative".

The frontwoman of Paramore, who is currently dating Chad Gilbert, principal composer and guitarist of New Found Glory, alleged that the pop boy group ripped off a single by New Found Glory in 2006 dubbed "It's Not Your Fault". Gilbert said that the melodies, piano hooks and patterns between the two songs were quite the same. He noted his observations on Twitter but stopped after he was lambasted by One Direction fans.

Williams wrote in a report by Independent, "Beginning of that new 1D song couldn't sound any more like the beginning of New Found Glory's 'It's Not Your Fault'." She added, "I realise that I'm gonna get hate from a very large fanbase for that, but really, it has more to do with whoever pitched or co-wrote the song."

Gilbert stated, "Props to the One Direction 'Steal My Girl' single for reworking the 'It's Not Your Fault' piano part into a Top 40 single. Let me get a cut." He later conceded and said that his prior statements were just a joke.

According to Spin, however, the two songs were apparently inspired by "Faithfully", a 1985 hit by rock Band Journey, although it is not clear whether either of the two bands knows.

Zayn Malik said about One Direction Steal My Girl, "I think it's just a progression on the last stuff we've done."
