Doctor Who Season 8 Finale And Christmas Special Spoilers: Gatekeeper Of The Nethersphere, Plus Rumors On Clara's Departure

As "Doctor Who" gets closer to its season 8 finale, spoilers on the two-part finale and the Christmas Special have surfaced.

By now, "Doctor Who" fans have been introduced to the mysterious character Missy, spoilers according to DoctorWhoTV confirm that the character will be heavily featured in the season 8 finale.

"In the mysterious world of the Nethersphere, plans have been drawn," reads the unofficial synopsis. "Old friends and old enemies maneuver around the Doctor, and an impossible choice is looming over him."

"Death is not an end, promises the organization known as 3W. Features a Cybermen invasion of earth and the return of UNIT, Kate Stewart and Osgood. The Doctor also has to contend with the mysterious Missy, also known as the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere."

Sadly, much less is known about the "Doctor Who" season 8 Christmas Special. However, its list of guest stars have been confirmed, including Nick Frost, Michael Troughton, Natalie Gumede, Faye Marsay and Nathan McMullen.

“I’m so thrilled to have been asked,” Frost said according to BBC America. “I’m such a fan of the show.”

“The read-through was very difficult for me. I wanted to keep stuffing my fingers into my ears and scream ‘No spoilers!’ Every day on set I’ve had to silence my internal fan boy squeals!”

Could one of the spoilers Nick Frost is alluding to be the potential exit of Clara during the Christmas Special?

“Well, we do see her beginning to fall for Danny,” said Jenna Coleman to Radio Times. “The series shows her trying to balance this double life and trying to travel with the Doctor while also being a completely normal human being at home. We see the control freak in Clara."

"She says she’ll travel with the Doctor but only if he drops her off back in the same stationery cupboard exactly to the minute that she left so she isn’t missing any of her own life. It all becomes rather chaotic, as you can imagine, and that doesn’t work at all – it becomes quite impossible.”

“There’s lots of rumors. We’ve sat down with Steven Moffat and we’ve all decided we don’t want anybody to know which way it’s going. If you know I’m in the next series – or if you know I’m off – you’ll know how the story ends.”
