‘Rush Hour’ TV Show Gets Pilot Commitment From CBS, ‘Rush Hour’ Movie Director Brett Ratner To Executive Produce, No News On Possibility Of ‘Rush Hour 4’

"Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?" This famous movie line from blockbuster action film "Rush Hour" may be coming to television soon as CBS just committed to a pilot for a "Rush Hour" TV show. Brett Ratner, the original director of the popular franchise will return as an executive producer, but there's no news on whether this will increase the likelihood of a "Rush Hour 4" movie.

Back in August, Chinese action star Jackie Chan told audiences in a Q&A (via Variety) that "Rush Hour 4" was possible with one condition:

"Just like lately they want to make ‘Rush Hour 4.' I said ‘No, show me the script first. I don't need another ‘Rush Hour 4.' You need another ‘Rush Hour 4.' Show me the script.' I don't want to do a rubbish script just because they want to make the movie," he said.

It's a reasonable condition considering that "Rush Hour 3" did worse in the box office than the two previous installments according to Box Office Mojo. But perhaps Chan will consider a television cameo as today it was announced that CBS is committed to the production of a "Rush Hour" TV show pilot.

According to Screen Rant, "'Rush Hour' the TV show, which is being produced by ‘Rush Hour' movie trilogy director Brett Ratner, will retain the same premise as its cinematic predecessors; namely, a square Hong Kong police officer and an anti-authoritative black LAPD cop are forced to work together on a case (most likely, cases)."
This deal, along with the recent deal for a "Supergirl" TV series, marks the second big TV series order for CBS. This probably means the network is fully ready to compete in the 2015 season. Unfortunately, the news of a possible "Rush Hour 4" is still merely a possibility, but perhaps this new "Rush Hour" TV show will lend itself to a script impressive enough to get Jackie Chan to come back for it. It shouldn't be a problem for Chris Tucker who mentioned a while ago that he'd be open to it.
