Upcoming Blackberry Phones 2014: Passport Is Company's Best Selling Smartphone In A Long Time, Sells Out Again

It looks like Blackberry has followed the technique of Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi when it comes to releasing its new upcoming Blackberry phones for 2014, particularly the Passport.

Announced a couple of months ago, the Blackberry Passport is certainly one of the more strange-looking smartphones we have seen recently.

But it seems Blackberry fans are buying it, both figuratively and literally.

According to a report by Phone Arena, the Canada-based manufacturer has once again succeeded in selling out its current stocks of the Blackberry Passport. In the report, the smartphone's purchase page says that the product is 'out of stock', though it offers a feature to notify interested individuals via email once stocks have been replenished.

Last year, it would be difficult to imagine Blackberry selling hundreds of thousands of its new devices in just a days or weeks. But thanks to its new CEO John Chen, it looks like his strategy is working for the Waterloo-based company.

Earlier this year, the phone maker unleashed budget phones in the Asian market in a collaborative effort with supplier Foxconn.

In case you are thinking whether the Passport is a decent investment, then here are some specs.

The smartphone packs a 4.5-inch display with 1440 x 1440 resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB RAM, quad-core CPU, and a 32GB built-in memory.

The phone also packs a 13MP camera with optical image stabilization, and a QWERTY keypad which may look a bit cramped, but would work well for typers.

Underneath the hood is a microSD card slot that can support up to 128GB of microSD card storage, and there is a 3,450mAh battery which reportedly lasts more than a day on a single charge with the usual everyday usage.
