Nexus X Release Date: Specs Of New Flagship May Incl. Android L, 5.92-inch Display, 3GB RAM; Oct. 2014 Launch Possible

Nexus X release date: Specs of the rumored Android flagship, Nexus X, may include the latest version of the Google mobile OS, the Android L. It may also have a 5.92-inch display and a memory of 3GB RAM. Speculations suggest that it maybe launched around Oct. 2014.

In their article titled “Nexus X: Everything we know about Google’s next flagship smartphone,” Patrick O’Rourke noted that the following specs are what’s expected from the device:

- 5.92-inch display
- 2560 x 1440 resolution, 498 ppi
- Snapdragon 805 processor
- 3 GB of RAM
- A model with 32 GB of storage
- 3,200 mAh battery
- 13 MP rear camera, 4K UHD video capable
- 2 MP front-facing camera

Android Authority reports that the Nexus X will be launching together with a new tablet, the Nexus 9, around October 15 or 16. The release dates maybe mid-October but availability maybe as late as the first week of November, when the Android L, the newest mobile platform of Google is expected to be available for download.

NDTV says that if the mid-October dates would happen to be true, it will contradict earlier leaks suggesting the Nexus X will arrive by October 31.

Motorola is said to be the manufacturer of choice for the Nexus X. Claims have been made saying that the rumored Google handset will look much like the Moto X that the handset maker has released.

A report published by The Information, as reported by Know Your Mobile says that, “Motorola is also getting a boost from working on an undisclosed phone-tablet project with Google—the type of initiative which, ironically, it could not pursue as a Google subsidiary due to concerns about favoring the house-owned Android vendor over others.”

It continued, however, that after Lenovo purchased Motorola, “Google’s Android unit began working with Motorola to develop a co-branded ‘Nexus’ phone that’s considered to be a phablet.”

Although all this information must be taken with a grain of salt, it’s worth noting that historically, Google has launched handsets during the latter period of 2014.
